When you roll off your Nissan dealer‘s lot with a new car, you’ll be driving with confidence knowing it comes equipped with a host of advanced car safety features. The Safety Shield 360 suite helps prevent some of the most common types of accidents while Zone Body Construction maximizes impact absorption when a collision can’t be avoided. Here are some of the technologies that Nissan has developed to protect drivers and their passengers.

From Your Nissan Dealer: 5 Great Car Safety Features You’ll Find on Today’s Nissan Cars and Trucks

1. Nissan Advance Airbag System

This cleverly designed airbag system is capable of adjusting its inflation according to how severe the impact is. It achieves this by using a dual-stage airbag that is separated into low-power and high-power modules. It also uses seat belt and weight sensors to detect and classify passengers. The front seats of Nissan’s vehicles have additional airbags built into their sides, so occupants are well protected regardless of seating position.

Greater head protection is provided by side-impact airbags fitted to the roof of the vehicle.

2. Zone Body Construction

Nissan has made its automobiles safer during crashes by dividing their bodies into two separate zones. Occupants sit in the safety zone, which is surrounded by multiple frames that distribute impact energy away from them. The crush zone features reinforced crash bars and crumple zones that automatically start collapsing once sensors detect a collision. Much of the violent force during an accident can be absorbed by this crush zone.

3. Intelligent Rear View Mirror

When you’re driving around at night with passengers or large pieces of cargo in the rear, it can be difficult to get a clear view from a traditional rear-view mirror. Nissan developed their Intelligent Rear View Mirror to help with the issue, which links up with a rear-facing external camera. At the flip of a switch, the mirror will change to a high-resolution camera feed that lets you easily see what’s going on behind your vehicle and greatly reduces glare.

4. Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention

One of the most common types of collisions occurs when drivers attempt to change lanes and fail to notice the other vehicle traveling in their blind spot. The Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention system utilizes a rear bumper-mounted radar sensor that scans for vehicles in the blind spot. If one is detected while changing lanes, the system will notify the driver by continuously flashing a warning light and sounding an audible alert.

At the same time, the system can automatically apply the brakes and/or smoothly steer the vehicle back to its original position.

5. High Beam Assist

It’s important to avoid becoming a hazard to other drivers while using your high beams in low-light conditions. High Beam Assist is capable of switching off your high beams when it senses oncoming traffic. Once the other vehicle passes by, they’ll automatically switch back on for you.

Not content with including just the bare minimum when it comes to safety, Nissan has continued to pioneer new technology and construction techniques. Contact Lupient Nissan today to learn more about them and other impressive innovations!
