It’s time to talk about a new SUV that’s worth every minute of your time. The 2025 Nissan Murano may not be an all-new name in the Nissan lineup, but it has been fully redesigned for the new model year. This year’s Murano differs from its predecessor in many ways. You may be surprised to learn that Nissan has made several changes to the 2025 Murano. We don’t blame you if you weren’t keeping track—some of the Murano’s features hadn’t been updated in over a decade prior to this redesign. We’ll get into all that and more today, so keep reading, and you’ll learn everything you need to know before you visit us here at your Nissan dealer near Eagan.

Keeping it Simple, and We Like That

There are three trim levels available for the 2025 Nissan Murano. This is one less configuration than last year and two less than the year before that because of the discontinuation of the Midnight Edition and S trims. The SV, SL, and Platinum are the three remaining trims.

We believe reducing the number of trims to three is the right call because it simplifies the shopping process and ensures each trim provides a robust experience. The 2025 Murano has several upgrades over its predecessor that make its base SV trim more appealing than ever, but we’ll discuss that later. The SV has a starting MSRP of $40,470 and is the only trim that comes with front-wheel drive.[a] All-wheel drive is standard on the SL and Platinum and is available on the SV, which is perfect for handling winter weather in Eagan.

Does This New Powertrain Matter?

Nissan has finally retired the 3.5L V6 engine the Murano has been built with since its debut in 2003. This engine has produced identical horsepower and torque from 2011 through 2024—almost 15 years of unchanged performance. These older Murano models also use a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The 2025 Murano marks a pivotal shift toward a powerful and efficient powertrain that feels premium to drive, and the new nine-speed automatic transmission is a part of that.

The V6 engine in older Murano models produces fantastic performance and ample fuel economy ratings. However, turbocharged engines have made many advancements in the last 15 years. Switching to the new 2.0L VC-Turbo I-4 engine is a more viable solution to achieve the blend of strength and efficiency Nissan is looking for.

The new powertrain is a welcomed change for the Murano. It produces 241 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque while retaining the V6 engine’s maximum towing capacity of 1,500 lbs. The turbocharged 2.0L I-4 engine in the 2025 Murano earns EPA-estimated ratings of 21 MPG in the city, 27 MPG on the highway, and 23 MPG combined, perfect for Eagan commuters.

New Phone Connectivity, Who’s This?

The 2025 Murano is built with an all-new infotainment center to replace the preexisting unit we have come to know and love for years. The previous infotainment center and its eight-inch screen served its purpose, but there are more 2025 midsize SUVs with at least 10-inch infotainment centers than eight inches and below. It’s the right time to shelve the eight-inch screen from past models and replace it with the 2025 Murano’s new 12.3-inch media center. The larger screen is a significant upgrade over last year’s model in function and form. Having a larger screen makes it easier to navigate through the menus, select songs or podcasts, and view GPS data by quickly glancing over.

The infotainment center uses its 12.3-inch size sparingly by increasing its dimensions horizontally rather than vertically. This means the screen has a wider aspect ratio for multiple apps to be displayed simultaneously. The eight-inch infotainment center from last year has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but this year’s Murano upgrades every trim to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Smartphone connectivity remaining fully supported is refreshing to see. However, smartphone connectivity is no longer essential as the 2025 Murano can natively access features like turn-by-turn navigation through Google Maps or your favorite media streaming apps like Pandora or Spotify. You can access all of the Google services or download third-party applications without a tethered smartphone because the 2025 Murano’s infotainment center features available Google Built-In. This includes Google Assistant, a voice-command AI that can help you in various ways. It can help you enter directions or choose your favorite song and has other excellent features.

The 12.3-inch infotainment center isn’t the only new tech feature for the 2025 Murano. Every trim has another 12.3-inch screen directly to the left, replacing the traditional instrument cluster. This separate 12.3-inch screen displays your speedometer, odometer, fuel level, real-time tire pressure readings, and more. You can also opt for a head-up display (HUD) that projects your speed and other information onto your windshield. With the HUD installed, you’ll complete the cabin’s impressive trio of screens.

Try This on for Size

The 2025 Murano is a textbook midsize SUV. It has two spacious rows of seating, excellent cargo space, and a balanced exterior that gives an on-road presence without the downsides of driving a larger vehicle. It begins with its ample 192.9-inch length and 78-inch width that still lets it fit in tighter parking spaces, and you likely won’t encounter any clearance issues with the 2025 Murano’s 67.9-inch height. Although you won’t have trouble entering parking garages, it’s a potent off-roading performer thanks to its 8.3 inches of ground clearance on every trim.

The 2025 Murano provides respectable headroom. The SV trim without a moonroof has 41.1 inches of front-row headroom and 39.7 inches for the second row. The other two trims, the SL and Platinum, which have moonroofs, provide 39.4 inches of front headroom and 37.9 inches of rear headroom. We’re also very impressed by the 2025 Murano’s legroom. It features a spacious 44.3 inches in the front and 36.3 inches in the rear.

We expect you’ll appreciate the 2025 Murano’s cargo space. It’s identical between trims. The 2025 Murano has 32.9 cu.ft. of cargo space with every seat up. This is an upgrade over the 2024 Murano’s 32.1 cu.ft. Folding down the second-row seats increases the maximum cargo capacity to 63.5 cu.ft. This is a commendable 93% increase.

Please Take a Seat

There’s a strong chance the two best seats on your property will be the driver and front-row passenger seats in the 2025 Murano if there’s one sitting in your driveway. The standard seats are among the best around, and it gets better with the Platinum trim. The SV and SL trims have leatherette seats, but the Platinum uses genuine quilted leather. These are heated seats regardless of the trim you buy so you will stay warm when cold weather hits Eagan. However, the Platinum transforms them into ventilated seats with integrated massage functionality. You won’t want to leave your seat, and you’ll always look forward to your next drive.

The 2025 Murano has an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat regardless of the trim. A six-way power-adjustable front-row passenger seat is also standard with every trim. The SV’s driver’s seat has two-way power lumbar support, but this is upgraded to a four-way power lumbar system with the SL and Platinum. The front passenger seat also gets four-way lumbar support with the Platinum. You and whoever you may share your 2025 Murano with can even save your preferred seating positions; the SUV offers two driver memory profiles if you purchase the SL or Platinum.

The Next Chapter Begins Now

The 2025 Murano is everything we wanted and more. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2024 Murano, don’t get us wrong. However, as competition ramped up, it became increasingly difficult to argue that a vehicle with an eight-inch infotainment center, no digital driver information center, and a powertrain that hadn’t received any updates for almost a decade and a half should be the de facto choice for a shopper in 2025. Nissan has taken all the necessary steps to change that. The 2025 Murano marks a shift toward a new chapter where state-of-the-art tech and Nissan’s irrefutable eye for style and detail are a more dynamic duo than ever. We couldn’t be more excited for the future of this model, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy the present and get yourself this year’s Murano.
