2021 Nissan Murano

The 2021 Murano is available in the S, SV, SL, and Platinum trim levels. Standard exterior items on the S include LED headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels. Move up to the next trim level, SV, to add heated outside mirrors, black roof rails, and LED fog lights. Nissan's Special Edition package with a sunroof is an option on the SV trim. The SL trim builds upon the SV's offerings, adding silver roof rails and 20-inch wheels. The 2021 Nissan Murano Platinum adds special dark aluminum alloy rims and matching chrome body accents on the sides, bumper, and front.

The Murano uses the same 3.5-liter V-6 engine as last year, with 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It can tow up to 1,500 pounds when properly equipped. Fuel economy ratings reach 20/28 city/highway mpg. Any of the trim levels have the option to use all-wheel drive; otherwise, front-wheel drive is standard.

The Murano's power ratings combine well with the CVT, so joining and keeping up in the fast lane is no problem. As a family wagon, the 2021 Nissan Murano mainly emphasizes a calm driving style, taking the force out of potholes or bumps and keeping the cabin stable enough for a nap. The engine offers no weaknesses overall. It has enough power to stay ahead, plus a good amount of towing power and solid fuel economy.

Although all Nissan models have give special attention to interior comfort, the 2021 Murano is likely the most interior-focused of their SUVs. The seats are supportive of both large and small passengers and are especially comfortable for lengthy travels. Cloth seating is standard, with fancy additions like heated seats available. Passenger seats all provide room to relax and stretch out, and the cargo space is 32.1 cubic feet, rising to 67 cubic feet when the seats are folded flat. The Platinum is the most deluxe inside, with soft leather on the armrests, seats, and door panels. Automatic dual-zone climate control, an easy-to-use menu with physical controls, an 8.0-inch touch screen, four USB ports, Bluetooth functions, a six-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all included on starting models. Drivers taking long road trips or with a driving-intensive job might want to upgrade by adding a GPS or 11-speaker premium audio package. For 2021, SiriusXM with Travel Link is now standard for fast and easy weather or traffic updates.

Each Murano includes a rearview camera for backing up, as well as forward and reverse collision warning systems, plus automatic high beams and automatic emergency braking. With the 2020 year, many of these features were only on the optional Safety Shield 360 package, but are now standard. For some additional protection, the SUV can also come with adaptive cruise control, a surround-view video parking system, and road sign recognition.
