Powering the Capable 2024 Nissan Frontier

The new Frontier is built with one powerful and capable engine: a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. All models have a nine-speed automatic transmission. Most models come standard with rear-wheel drive, but some trims have four-wheel drive designed especially for off-roading fun.

The Nissan Frontier towing capacity tops out at 6,720 pounds with the Nissan Frontier King Cab S trim with rear-wheel drive. Crew Cab models and those with four-wheel drive have towing capabilities of up to 6,260 pounds. The King Cab S trim with rear-wheel drive has the top payload capacity of 1,620 pounds.

The 2024 Nissan Frontier trim levels with rear-wheel drive get an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 18 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway. Those with four-wheel drive get EPA-estimated fuel ratings of 17 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway. These ratings are outstanding, especially for midsize trucks with standard internal combustion engines.

Tech in the Cabin and Under the Hood

The newest addition to the 2024 Nissan Frontier is the Hardbody Edition. This top trim is styled like the 1980s Nissan Hardbody which eventually became the Frontier. Nissan added 1980s-style wheels, retro body decals, and bed-mounted sport bar to this new trim.

The Pro-4X with four-wheel drive continues to be the best trim for off-roading fun. This trim comes with all-terrain tires, skid plates, Bilstein shocks, and a taller ground clearance. The Pro-4X and Hardbody trims are two of six available for the 2024 model year.

All Frontier models have standard safety features that include a Rearview Camera, Forward Collision Warning, Pedestrian Detection, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking, and Driver-Attention Monitoring. The entry-level Frontier S has the following optional driver-assistance features: Lane-Departure Warning, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The Nissan Frontier interior comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth, a four-speaker audio system, and NissanConnect Services.
